Default just starting with heat transfers need advice

Have been doing sublimation for a while and now want to get into heat transfers as a way of reducing costs for shirts etc. and for decorating bags etc.

Need advice on the rightpaper to use.

would really like to have the ability to print odd shaped transfers and not having the stiff rectangular image that you sometnes get with heat transfers.

Have read about a two step process that efectively self weeds. Anyone had experience with this and can recommend the paper and suppier

thanks

Adrian

I like Jetprosofstretch for lights, and it is not a self weeding paper, but can be used with a plotter that will trim it for you.

I use Jet pro without excessive trimming because the hand is so soft, that it practically blends into the shirt itself. After the first wash, the hand is barely detectable.

JPSS is sold by a few suppliers, but today Roq told us where to get it super affordable. Here's a link. If you would like to just sample it, this place sells a sample 3 pk for one PENNY. Transfer Paper - Transfer Papers for Ink Jet - JET-PRO SofStretch - JET-PROŽ SofStretch™ 8.5" x 11" (50 Sheet Pack) (Powered by CubeCart)

If you do a search on Jetpro sofstretch, or jetpro, or jetprosofstretch, you'll find alot of feedback on it, and it's all good. It stretches with the shirt, doesn't crack, no fade issues.

Best wishes. PS - this is for light shirts, Ironall dark is for darks.

Also, if you read through that link I gave you, we are all looking for a pigment ink paper that will self weed, we haven't found it yet, but the tests continue. There are also laser transfers and some of them may self weed. Not sure about all of that. See ya around the boards and welcome to the forum.

I believe the two-step process that effectively self-weeds that you describe above is ImageClip, which is for laser printers. Infortune is our resident expert, and I would suggest PMing him directly and/or searching the threads for more information...
