hello all,

just curious, has anyone ever compared the durabilty if any between plastisol and vinyl cut tshirts. also, for one color t shirts which is more cost effective the vinyl or plastisol.

It really depends on how many you're doing and how complex your design is. If you're making very few shirts of the same design, then generally vinyl is more cost effective for one-color designs. But you wouldn't want to make 100 shirts with complex weeding with vinyl...at least I wouldn't.

My Fiance has shirts that he pressed using vinyl over ten years ago, and the vinyl still looks brand-new! The shirts are starting to fall apart now, but the vinyl has held up perfectly.

I don't know how well plastisol lasts, but I'm willing to bet not as long as vinyl.

plastisols hold up very well - but nothing lasts like vinyl! it will outlast the garment onto which it has been applied!

as for which is better for your job, it depends on the design! if it's a very complicated image that takes too much time to weed, you're better off going with plastisol. if not, maybe vinyl is better, tho it is more labor intensive and takes longer - it just depends on your business needs.

I tell all my customers that question the vinyl that it will outlast the garment. If not then it was a bad piece of vinyl or I did something wrong - either way I replace it.

Plastisol is just ink - so it will eventually wear and fade. I think the timeline of that has to do with many factors that you can't control when doing plastisol transfers. However I have very good results with the plastisol transfers from Transfer Express and Ace. I haven't tried any others, but any of them that have been in business and plan on staying in business should produce the same quality.
