Default Continuous Ink System

I have been reading the posts about printers and I can tell CIS is the best way to go for the money. I don't understand about these systems.

Will any CIS with pigment ink work?
If you buy a CIS from one company, do you have to use their ink in it?
Can I get a generic system and use transmagic ink from alphasupply or everlast from coastalbusiness?
Are generic CIS junk?

I suspect you folks have been there done that with the CIS and I need some of your experience before I invest money in the wrong thing.

This board is such an educational facility for me. I really appreciate it.

Just thought of something, at the Great Garment Graphics Seminars, do they sell any equipment, or is it just educational?

Thanks,
ktmm164

I hope Lou (Badalou) sees this thread, he's the CIS expert (among many other things!) around here.

From what I understand, you should try to avoid generic chinese CIS's I've heard of them gloggin, and even leaking, which would not be a good thing.

Your best bet is to just find a reputable company that offers a CIS for your printer and buy it, and their inks as well.

Quality inks and quality systems are probably compatible with each other, but I can't guarantee that. Sorry.

Chani,

Thanks for the quick response. I've been watching Lou's videos and learned tons. I hope he sees this one, too.

one problem with CIS from one place and the ink from another is that in case of problems...clogging or malfunctions...etc..each will point to the other.. Just buy from a know source..try to get both CIS and ink from the same place.. it will pay off in the long run..leaking CIS systems are PIA...to say the least..
