Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I am a little concerned now. I buyed this combo heat press on ebay and not really sure what I am doing wrong. It presses images fine but i tend to get a light scorching on the rest of the t-shirt (whites). Also, I dont know if the temperature is reading correctly or not.
Shop for one of these in your price range. Folks here have said they've found them around $15-30, and there are available at tool stores, some are on Ebay, and some folks have found good deals at Harbor Freight.
one other thing to consider is if you bought your shirts at a local store, many of those have a sizing on them that will scorch slightly when being pressed - it usually goes away with the first wash, but you don't want to try that with a garment you're selling!

Most cotton will scorch at around 400F...around 202 or so for C... If you are getting even heat and you are not above that temp...should not scorch..so maybe the temp.. also...for those just reading...the combination units may not be the most accurate across the board.. if you don't have teflon sheet, try parchment paper..like they use in baking
Charles, thanks for the info on the combo units, as well as the confirmation on the cotton scorch. Amor has a few little threads with different parts of these questions, and in a different one, I did mention that cottons can scorch at 400 +/-, but it seemed other folks didn't have concern for that, so I am glad to re-read your post as a confirmation that that's the benchmark for scorching. I use JPSS at 375, for a long 30 seconds. I feel that is a high temp and long dwell, and if my machine was off in temp, I would be inclinded to think it could cause the issue of scorching. Anyway I appreciate your post, have a great day.
