can you start a business with just stock transfers and a heat press?
Okay this may be a hilarious question but im still going to ask. Can you start just a buisness online, flea market,mall,etc..by just buying stock transfers and a heat press. The reason i was asking is because (proworld) has this deal online about buying a heat press with some transfers. So i was thinking hey maybe buy a lot of stock transfers and just set up some where with my press on the table and start pressing on demand. Is it possible?
It is not a hilarious question, many others have done that. I have two vendor friends that basically have a booth of nothing but 'stock transfers' --- just remember it's NOT a unique idea and you will have lots of competition.
So, visit the flea market or other venue you might want to set up in and see how many other vendors are already there doing the same thing.
It's more than likely you'll find a half dozen other t-shirt vendors ... check out how and what they are selling for what price to see if setting up another business seems viable.
Thank's for your response. Now how long can you have these stock transfers before they go bad? im assumming they get old and dry after a while or am i wrong.
I saw a guy doing something similar but in a storefront in Old Town Sacramento. He did stock x-fers with customization in the form of lettering. He charged for each add/on. I watched a guy buy a t-shirt with a transfer and lettering for $25 + sales tax. The price of the shirt was around $12 with the transfer and went up from there.
About 3 months ago I did what you are thinking. I went to ProWorld & got the heat press & transfer deal.
You save on the heat press, but you can get just about the same price elsewhere if you can find a free shipping deal. Plus you might not want to start off with $400 worth of transfers that you might not sell.
Remember you'll need just as many t-shirts as transfers, so budget accordingly if your start-up funds are tight.
I also bought transfer paper, mouse pads, coasters, puzzles, & license plates. I know the owners of a 1-hour photography store & they now offer my services. I think I'll get a lot of business sent my way from them.
They now have around 3 of their own stores in bristol and their tees are available in loads of shops in local stores. They just took a niche view on our local "sayings" and made money from it.
So yeah people can make a business from a flea market whatever the country
Well i bought my heat press and plotter/cutter combo already just waiting for it to get here. And as far as the flea market thing i kind of lost hope on it.There was a guy selling funny slogan t-shirts for $5 bucks a piece i wouldn't want to sell my stuff that cheap so definetly a no for me.

Or on the car ride lol.... Don't be so discouraged just because there is someone there selling for 5.00. IMO and I can only speak for me but, If I am shopping and see a shirt for 5.00 it makes me question the quality of it. If I can find a better quality garment for just a bit more in price I would rather have it. I would have probably given the guy some healthy competition

This is funny because my wife and I were in the kitchen the other night as she engaged in her daily online search for new shoes. She ran across a pair that she liked but they were priced at $10. She looked puzzled and wondered what could have been wrong with them. I said, "Get them, they're only $10 bucks". She refused.
So definitely don't be discouraged by the bargain basement sellers. Perceived value means a lot.
And as far as starting up your business... I don't see why you couldn't start up with your press and stock transfers. I would highly suggest some level of customization though. I'll bet a dollar to a hundred that everyday you'll have someone ask if you can personalize something. Consider stocking up on precut lettering/numbers for names & uniforms.
