I am new to the T-shirt printing world and was curious about the printing methods used and their cost. I have tried the silk screen and like it for solid one color designs but for multi-color/layer designs it proves difficult and time consuming. I want to keep the cost of my shirts down but with the silk screen process I would not be able to do so.

Also, I was wondering a good place to buy cotton/polyester blend shirts, sweaters and such. Locally I can pay about $3.70 a shirt but was wondering if their is a cheaper way.

You may want to check the Wholesale T-Shirts section of the forum. There are lots of wholesale t-shirt vendors listed there where you can signup to get wholesale pricing on lots of different brands of t-shirts.
