Default Opaque paper question

Good day, fairly new to the process and have a question re Opaque paper. If I print a transfer that has some white background and I do allow this white background to show up on the shirt, is that a problem?

If you're talking about pressing the entire transfer sheet without trimming it, in my opinion, yes, it looks unprofessional.

If your design is a rectangle and you just trim the outside of your design to get rid of the white "box", it looks much more professional.

If you have a complex design, I HIGHLY suggest using a plotter (vinyl cutter) to trim your design from the white box background.

Good luck!

Thanks Chani, I have been doing that trying to keep the designs limited to a shape that i can cut just the design which works but as far as white remaining on the shirt for example I would do that to achieve a white lettering effect on a black tshirt, does that create any issues?

That would be an issue unless you put a colored box or design around the white letters that would make them simpler to cut.

Have a look at this thread that I did a while ago with opaque paper. This is how you would get white lettering on a colored shirt:

Thanks!

Just to let you know, because of the paper that I used in that thread, that shirt has cracks in it. It was Avery paper, and was all I had available to me that day. I wouldn't use any Wal-Mart papers...only professional papers like IronAll Dark or JetDark.

Good luck!

How is JetDark on 50/50? I red that dye used on 50/50 can migrate on the transfer. Is Jetdark made by Neenah? Or is it he same as Jet Opaque by Neenah?

I haven't used JetDark on 50/50's yet, so I can't answer that.

Yes, JetDark is made by Neenah. I haven't heard of Jet Opaque. Was that from Coastal or somewhere else? If it's from somewhere else, I'm guessing they're the same thing.
