Default What other tools do you reccomend?

Hi Guys,
I now have a 32" vinyl cutter/plotter.
and an industrial 15 x 15 Heat Press.
What cheap printer to you reccomend?
And what transfer paper do you reccomend?

I want to be able to do prints in the future onto shirts (currently just doing vinyl) That are vibrant, durable and wont fade in the wash or crack.

Whats best? (on the cheap)

Also im in the UK.
Ad.

Does your vinyl cutter have registration mark sensors? You won't be able to contour cut inkjet transfers without that feature on your plotter.

A popular printer for transfers here is the Epson C88+, which I believe is called the D88 in the UK. They're available as refurbs at Epson for really cheap. The thing is, they're limited to A4 or 8.5x11 prints. I don't know of a larger printer in the UK to use, but if I were to buy one here in the US, it would be either the 1400 or 1800. Both of those can do 13x19 prints, but the 1400 uses the wrong inks, so I'd need to get a continuous ink system for it that uses pigment inks.

That's the main thing...get a printer (or continuous ink system) that uses PIGMENT inks, NOT DYE inks.

For transfer paper for lights, I HIGHLY recommend Jet-Pro SofStretch, but I'm not sure if it's available in the UK yet or not. It's very soft after it's been washed, and it holds color very well adn it doesn't crack.

Good luck!

Hi,
No my cutter doesnt have reg marks but my mates craft robo does so ill probably borrow that sometimes.
So im probably best sticking to 1 or 2 coloured vinyl transfer jobs fo rthe time being.
Thanks for the reply.

Okay!

If it's the smaller CraftROBO, then you'll only be able to cut 8.5x11 sheets, so the C88+ will work perfectly for you.

Don't forget that you will need a teflon sheet for vinyl, and even some transfers. I'm trying to find out if using silicone sheets is better for transfers, tho. Those are available at Coastal Business.

Lastly, you will want something to line your graphics up on your shirts. For that, I recommend our own Lou's TeeSquareIt, available at Tee Square It or at Coastal.

BTW, I've personally done 6-color vinyl shirts and my Fiance has done 8-9 color designs, so you're not just limited to 1-2 colors.
