Default My first print tests and t-shirt

Now that all my equipment and papers have arrived I had a fun weekend. I had some concerns about the hand of the print as well as the Durabrite inks turning weird colors based on some the threads I have read. Based on my test prints and first shirt I had no problems (knock on wood)

I used JPSS from Coastal and set the Epson ink settings suggested by several posts and the results were impressive. I was impressed with the soft hand of the JPSS and the almost none existent window. I believe the yellow set at -25 produced the better colors in the photos but both settings produced good color patch test results. The "Pancake Run" tee is one that I made for my wife. She ran a 5K in Alabama and her mother went with her so she wanted a tee with that pic. It was a low res that was posted on the race website but printed well when sized properly.

Everyprint was done following the instructions that came with the paper. Med to firm pressure, 375 F and 30 seconds. After peeling hot I streched the shirt and re-pressed for 5 seconds with a teflon sheet.

One question...if I use more pressure will it "drive" the ink deeper into the shirt?

Nothing has been washed yet so con't comment on that yet but I will update after a few spins in the washer.

Any comments or suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Thanks to all the members who have shared and now that I have a press I hope to pay it back to others.

I LOVE the image you pressed for your test print! That's absolutely brilliant!

I'd love to see how your colors turn out after several washes.

Question: How long did you wait after you printed it until you pressed it? I found that waiting until the print had COMPLETELY dried helped with the color shift on DURABrite inks.

Thanks for the compliment. I have worked in printing (offset press) and decided to test the way it was done in the printing plants. Since the press is new I wanted to see if the heating was balanced across the width of the paper. Also did the solids to see how they reacted to the heat since I have read about some major color shifts with the Durabrite. I will post more pics after a few washings.

I let the prints dry for a least 20 minutes. I printed everything first and then turned the press on to warm up.
