Default Mug Press needs repair

I have a hix EP550 mug press that doesn't heat up. Anybody have any luck in repairing these?
I was able to get through to HIX tech Sheldon Gates and right away at that! I will say that their support is fantastic as far as reaching them, being courteous, informative, and returning calls the same day! He did lead me through some checks but the solution at this time is to install a Temp Controller to see if the unit is fixed. I'm never in favor of the remove & replace method to see if it works but I couldn't be given a test to bypass the controller and force the element to heat up.
Their temp contol unit cost is $220. Sounds high but what do I know. Any help?

Well being new to the forum it is discouraging to post looking for suggestions and not getting any replies at all. It is interesting to see that at least others are reading the post , just not replying.
Anyway for those that I may be able to help concerning my mug press problem, here goes.
Hix rep was right, the problem was with the Temp Controller. I did NOT order from Hix, I found Wolf Automation on the web that sold the same Temp Controller that Hix uses and sold it to me for $39.90 plus shipping!!!! Thats right Hix wanted $220 for the same thing. Nothing different same part number and all. Anyways I hope anyone have problems with their units do some searching and find the parts elsewhere like I was able to.

Glad your situation worked out, Blaine.

Regarding lack of responses, generally most folks will read a post to find out what the question is, and if cannot help, won't respond. Responses generate a notification via email to you that there is a new response, and you'll spend your time checking response that say, "Sorry I can't help you."

Thank you very much for posting your results, as some day, it may be useful for someone else. I'm sure if you post a question that others can help with, you'll get those responses you are looking for.

Have a nice day.

Is there anyplace we can post specific repair solutions? I thought that my research for the repair was a lifesaver, going from unuseable, then a $220 part to finally getting it for $49.80(actual bill).

I don't know. I would ask Rodney. I don't think your info would be found a bit buried in this thread, that's true, maybe. Rodney's the man, he'll tell you. If you ask, will you update the thread?
