Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
This is my first post on the board, so be nice. Just kidding. I own an all in one printer that I got from a department store. It's a lexmark x1270. Can anyone tell me if they have printined transfers using this printer? If so how was the quality.
Re: Is lexmark a good name when printing transfers
If it uses regular dye ink, it's won't work for tranfers, that washes out. It has to be able to take an ink that is pigment (waterresistant for cotton and cotton blends) or subdye(turns to gas when heated for polyester). Those don't wash out.

What does this mean? Are you getting email notifications when a reply is posted to your thread? I think you have to turn that on in usercp. Is that what you mean? Or are you wondering how to find your own posts? At the top left of the screen under the tee shirts forum logo, there is a link to 'show your own posts'. Hope one of these helps. On a side note, I sometimes didn't receive notice a reply came in at my email inbox, but that is something to do with Yahoo Rodney said, though, I haven't had problems for a while. GL.

I have a Lexmark 9350, wireless all-in-one and it DOES use pigment ink. The started using their own "Evercolor 2" pigment ink a couple years ago & it is used in most, if not all of their newer printers. Go to their website, find your cartriges & confirm whether or not they have the Evercolor cartridges available for your printer.
Re: Is lexmark a good name when printing transfers
Thanks, Aamon. I did a quick looksee, and the one I found for the x1270 said dye based, so if that's the right one for the OP, that wouldn't work for transfers. Is it possible to get the Evercolor for any printer? I have a few Lexmarks in the attic. I wonder....

Yeah, I've got at least two as well, they come with the new computers whether you need 'em or not.
I'd have to dig up my model numbers, but I'm not hopeful, the ink I looked up for the x1270 mentioned above was dye based. Not good. Wondering if the person who posted that link knows more. Hopefully cut to the chase.
Re: Is lexmark a good name when printing transfers
Good question about the older printers. I don't know. If you search their site for your particular cart, they'll tell you. I looked for my x5150 & it uses dye ink. So, it does look like the newer printers are getting the new ink.
