Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I have made shirts in the past using an iron, as gifts, but I want to start my own business. My husband gave me a heat press for christmas. We already have a few unique sayings for shirts wich we are going to copyright/trademark . I am currently using Hanes T-shirt Lite, as it was free in the last iron on transfer pack-avery-that I bought. So here is my question: is it illegal for me to make and sell t-shirts using the images/clipart found on this disc or any others?
if you have a clip art disc read through the legal notice that came with it to find if you can use the designs for a retail product, usually if you bought a clip art disc you are allowed to use them for that sort of thing but cant say you own the copyright.
I use Greenstreet its a cd but i may only use a part of the design i don't copy rite these only the 1's I do myself, if u r just starting out 1 way to do it cheaply is to take photos of things maybe something u have in house and play around with it or do you own drawings gl
Hi there, I'd do as Sketchbox said, read the fine print in your pack, or call the customer service number on there.
There is a link to copyright info on the left of the forum. That will give you good information regarding copyright. Generally, logo and branding is trademarked and art/images are copyrighted. Usually, short simple phases alone are not good candidates for copyright, adding a design will make them more copyrightable as art.
Have you invested in any supplies other than Avery paper? What is your printer and how do you apply them?
Aside from the avery paper I have also tried the sampler pack from alpha supply. I have a few other places I'm going to order samples from.
My printer is an Epson Stylus CX7800 and I use a heat press to apply them.
Just stay away from the Avery paper. It is probably the worst paper you can be using. I would suggest either ironall or Jet-Pro SofStretch, but there are many great suggestions here on the forum.
