As far as I know there aren't ANY white inks for injet printers.

Someone has come up with a white toner for laser printers, but to do this method you need two printers...one for white only and one for colors.

To have white in your design on colored shirts, you need to use opaque paper, for most printers. For Inkjets, IronAll for Darks seems to be the best at the moment.

If there was a white ink for inkjets, it would likely have a lot of problems

They are correct if you are looking for a printer to do heat transfers - no white ink and it would be a challenge to do it. You will use a white backing on the transfer paper (typically called opaque or dark transfer paper) as the white in the design. Most people like to trim the design or you will be transferring a full sheet of transfer paper.

If you are talking about direct-to-garment printing, then most of the printers use Dupont White ink. Sawgrass is coming out with a white ink that uses a different pretreatment technique. The other one is by Kornit, but this is an expensive machine (almost $100,000).
