Default Which press to buy??????

Hello All!

I've been doing some research and I'm torn between 3 different presses

1. Hix Presto 15x15 - Economy Heat Press
2. Hix Swingman 15x15 - Economy Heat Press
3. Mighty Press 15x15 (non-digital)

These presses fit into my budget, but I don't know which one will be best for me. Primarily I will be doing plastisol transfers with the occasional vinyl transfer. The Hix Presto only has .25" thickness capability while the Hix Swingman has 1.75" thickness capability. Is thickness capability really that much of an issue? I'll being doing mostly T-Shirts (but who knows what I might try to press). I couldn't find a thickness capability for the Mighty Press. Also, the only press that mentioned it could be used for plastisol transfers in the Hix Swingman. Do any of the others have plastisol transfer capability?

Any input from user experience would be great! Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I've decided on the Mighty Press. Anyone know the maximum thickness capability?

Any of the mentioned heat presses are capable of applying plastisol transfers. You should be happy with the Mighty Press, that is the very first press I ever laid hands on. Easy to use, reliable, Mighty!

I'm not sure what the other HIX presses are like, but we have a HIX HT-400D and love it.

We were torn between using a swing-away or clamshell, but we went with the clamshell in the end. I would imagine clamshells are easier and faster to use, but you do have the problem of heat rising in your face when you're standing in front of it for hours.

Mark has an ancient 15 x 15 swing away, but it's lost its temperature knob and is not a digital. You need to count to yourself when pressing. I'm glad we got a new one.

That's the beauty of doing this for a living. I'm sure most of us probably don't even use the timers on our presses, or at the very least ignore it. I usually just count down the time in my head, especially since every transfer is different and it just takes too long to adjust the time every five seconds.
