Default Using Epson R1800 w/Roland GX24 Question

I'm having a weekend long learning curve but it's been fun. Both the Epson and Roland are doing a great job and now I am attempting to combine the two by printing an image and using CutStudio create the vector cut lines around the image. I printed the image on the Roland and it's beautiful. CutStudio added the markings it does so the cutter knows where the image is but the Epson must be using a little too much ink because the circles are a solid black circle and if I'm understanding CutStudio's instructions, there should be a small white cross-hair inside of the black circle. The cutter isn't finding the markings so what do you do when the printer is doing too good of a job?

One extra note, there isn't a "transfer paper" selection inside of the properties for the Epson so I used "Premium Presentation Paper" instead. Has anyone else found an appropriate selection to use for transfer papers so that the markings don't get totally filled in???

There is no cross-section in the black circles. I think they only print it for reference. If you read the instructions, it states the registration marks should be 10mm solid black (100%) circles. You may see what appears to be cross sections in the CustStudio software, but if you look closer, it is actually just the grid of the page layout.

What the GX-24 does is reads the outside "x and y" of the black circles to line itself up.

I am not sure why yours is not reading the reg marks. Make sure you use the Print and Cut function, not just the cut. And your black circles are 100% black. You also have to allow enough space on the edges of the paper, so the Roland can see the black circles. If you notice when you select "piece" from the media type option on the Roland, it will auto feed the paper and read how big the sheet is.

For a better test, use an 8.5 x 11 sheet, place some simple text in the image, and make sure the reg marks are well inside the edges, try 2"s each edge.... try that. The back reg mark needs the most space from the back edge because the Roland needs to feed it, without losing grip from the rollers. And you have to make sure the back dot, is the single dot.

Thank you for the recommendations. I was using Print and Cut but maybe I did have the circles too close to the image. I thought that as long as I had the image slightly inside of the circles I would be okay but I must have pushed the envelope a little too much. This is great fun, and I'm really impressed with how well the image transfered to the shirt. I haven't washed it yet though so that will be the deciding factor on whether it is a quality shirt.

Do you always leave an outside gap on the design? I manually cut this transfer so I could heat press it onto the shirt and I would like to not leave a gap but the paper says there may be a problem with adhesion if I don't do that.

Also, after I heat pressed the transfer onto the shirt, there was a residue left on my nice new teflon sheet. I was able to wipe off most of it, but I started wondering if I should use something else also. Any recommendations?

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with me!
