Default A Question Of Motivation - How To Keep Motivated

I've been in the heat press business on my own for 2 years now and have recently had troubles getting motivated to do the things I know need to be done. I'm a big fan of selling on the Internet and Ebay as opposed to turning the open sign on at my store, but the whole process of taking pictures, making descriptions and listing items is so time consuming that I find myself avoiding it. I'm skimming by, but I'm not growing sales as well as I'm thinking up ways to expand and wanted some advice.

I did read this thread from mid-last year;
Staying motivated to bring in the money
and it had some points.

For those of you who have been in this heat press biz for awhile, what do you do when you get overwhelmed and need some motivation?

Thankx
R. Kelly

Ryan, I've been selling children's books on Ebay for several years now. I always find that after Christmas, I'm so burnt out and exhausted between the doing all the holiday stuff for my family, taking care of my daughter, working a full time job and those late nights filling orders, that I need a few months off just to recuperate.

Actually in 2007, I stopped selling in March, intending just to take a short break, and I haven't gotten back to it yet! I know that's bad, but that's when I started researching the t-shirts. In addition, I always find the months of January, February and part of March are just draining because of the icy cold, dreary weather. After that, I am hoping to get a Spring Renewal of Energy to resume the book selling, and add the t-shirt selling, on Ebay.

I think it's OK to give into the slump a little, just as long as your bills are paid!

Melissa

You put one foot in front of the other...just like you would be expected to do if you were working for someone else.

We all feel this way at times. Being in business for yourself is not a 9 to 5 job so at times we have to force ourself and get on with the job.

Maybe think about hiring an employee and sucking up the loss of a bit of cash flow.

Glad I'm not the only one having a hard time staying motivated. Sitting here browsing forums doesn't help production much either though.
