Unhappy New to the industry, and a bit discouraged..heat press search

Hi,

I am searching the web for a heat press, and I am so discouraged by the prices! I have a limited budget and cannot afford thousands of dollars.

Are there any websites that might sell used name brand press? I am really ready to get started by I feel like I might have to hold off on my plans

Help!

Ebay usually has a variety of cheaper presses, be they import or used domestic. The new, cheaper imports can be had for as little as $200, but their quality and reliability are a matter at issue (see other posts in these forums). If you're willing to try one of these, it may be a way for you to get into the business. A used domestic can also be obtained for much less than new. I bought a new 15x15 domestic for $600, so if that's in your price range, you might consider something like that.

Look down at the bottom of this thread, there are links to questions that have been asked before, there will be information there that'll probably steer you the right way.

Popular presses are Stahls, Hix, and DK (Digital Knight) brands, that's only a few though.
You can also do a search for those here by using the Search option over on your far left of the page. (Right under the HUGE Chat button)

The information's here, you just have to type in the above and read some, and you can also search using Google too, to kind'a round out things.

Randy

Thank you for your reply. I have spent the past 4 days reading previous post, I have gone on ebay and googled searched as well, that is how I found this site. I have yet to see any sites for used heat press and was just hoping that someone had insight. Thank you again:

I bought a new Stahls press (an older model though) on e-Bay, (actually a used DK cap press too) for a good price.
There is REALLY good deals on e-Bay if you watch it a week or so, I had some slip by my fingers that were dirt cheap, brand name presses too, and it made me sick.
Sometimes forums sells stuff too, you might try DyeSub.org - An educational site for dye sublimation and digital transfer printing. and see what is over there, it's another forum similar to this.
You might also try the Classifieds here too.
Mighty Press 11x15 Heat Press
Make sure that IF you buy from the seller ships it in a good way, SOME don't, so make 100% sure that it's packed good, even if it's a little more.

Check Google for heat press+buy, that can bring up other places that sell them, a lot of people sell stuff to get rid of it, they get all starry-eyed about buying and buy too much, then realize they are in above their heads.
I see that a lot, now, not when I was looking though. heheh

Really, if you know how to search, you can 'just about' find what you need, you need the names of what you want, then make sure you know where to put it in, like e-Bay, forums, or a search engine.
It's not foolproof, but it works most of the time, well, that is, if I'm looking for stuff for me, I can't find it. heheh

When you have enough posts you can ask in the Classifieds here, you have to have 15 posts I think...?

Randy

I don't know of a site for used presses, but there are usually many on Ebay. The new press I got is a Mighty Press, about $600 including shipping (with forum discount), from one of the preferred vendors, Specialty Graphics.

As far as other brands, Geo. Knight is considered excellent by many. My experience w/ this brand was less than desirable, but many are happy with it. Check out the forum for other responses - Hix, Stahl's, etc.
