Default What can do this?

I am new to making t-shirts and currently have money to invest but for the past several weeks I have done nothing but research and failed to come up with an answer to what I need to do what I want to do. I keep landing on DTG printers as the best solution to what I want to do, however, I keep reading about heat transfers and it sounds like they can accomplish what I would like to accomplish but I keep finding dead ends in the methods I am looking into. So, what I really want to know is... what method or items can accomplish the following criteria?

(Sorry, I know this is probably answered piece by piece in other posts but I have looked through this forum for weeks and have come up with nothing but bits and pieces so any help would be greatly appreciated.)

I am looking to produce the following on t-shirts and possibly other garments.

*High Quality Images
*Multi Color Images which include shading
*Print on dark colored shirts, including Black
*Good wash results that doesnt include cracking after a few washes
*The less texture the better, but I do understand there will probably be some texture
*Little to no backround (I have been reading there is cutting involved with some heat transfer methods, the problem is some images are nearly impossible to cut to the edges)

(Quality is more important than cost)

I have read about dye sublimation which looked great until I found out it was for white or light colors only. I have heard and read that certain heat transfers have problems cracking. I was looking into "WOW" which is new and am still waiting on a call back to see if they can answer my questions. So with all that said, any advice on what I may be looking at? Can anything in the heat transfer arena do this? Would a DTG printer be my best bet?

Much thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help me out!

I think this can be accomplished through plastisol transfers and DTG printing.I suggest you contact Ace Transfer Company and talk to Dave or one of his qualified staff to get questions answered about plastisol transfers. This is the quicker way of producing garmnets without a lot of investment in equipment. ....... Good luck. ....JB

Check into a Versa Camm from Roland or any other wide format printer. They can do everything you are looking for, plus you can expand into signs, decals and much more. They are expensive, but not much more than a DTG printer.

They also can print on virtually any substrate and have materials specifically designed for garments (of any type).

Since you are just starting, plastisol transfers is the way to go. Your only investment will need to be a heat press, which will be needed even if you do start branching off into other types of heat printing. There is a great thread on this site, reviewing the different companies. Contact each, get samples, talk to their staff and get started!
