Hi All,
Can anyone help. I pre-pressed the shirt, put transfer on shirt, covered it with teflon sheet,as per instructions, pressed the t. On removing the teflon sheet it had left a yellow image on a white t-shirt. Can I press transfers without a teflon sheet? Will it damage the heat press. What is worse-ruined shirts or a heat press I may have to clean!!!!!!!
If the shirt is yellow it may be scorched. What temp are you pressing at? Cotton scorches at 400F. If you use hydrogen peroxide diluted in water you can remove the yellow.
Teflon sheets can't stain anything themselves. I think it's either a scorched shirt, or something you had on the teflon from maybe an earlier transfer.

I guess it would be the temperature too high as the teflon sheet was a brand new sheet, never used before
I know you followed the instructions. But what were the instructions. If you pressed too long I would have expected the yellow to be around the teflon pad. Not where the pad was. Bacause it is a hot peel transfer and the image is facing down you should not need anything between the back of the paper and the platen. I use parchment paper with opaque transfers because the image is facing up and you do not want it touching the platen.. nope.. nada..Lou
instructions are press for 10 secs at 390-400, remove paper immediately. Just pressed a 100% cotton shirt, transfer looks great but Ive got a mark on the shirt the shape of the platen and you can clearly see it,on both white & black shirts. It didnt seem so bad with 50/50 shirts. Any answers???

If you mean where you pressed it left a flat square the size of the platen then that is normal. Don't fret it is normal. The solutions are. press the rest of the shirt it will go away after washing. Everyone has this problem. Colors standout more especially red. it look burnt but it is not. Just heat causeing the color to darken. That goes away as well. I have used inserts to raise the area where I want the transfer to be placed (TEE PAD IT and some use teflon pillows) So it just the transfer area being pressed.
If it is beyond the normal discoloration that Lou is describing, I wonder if your press is running at the proper temperature - or possibly running too hot.
Maybe someone can say how to check the temp. I do not know how to, but would love to know.
I have a dial on the MP lite, but that doesn't really tell me how hot it is running if it starts malfunction.

Cotton has fibers that get flat when pressed. 50/50 not so much. Do yourself a favor. press the transfer on the shirt. Take the transfer off as instructed then Press the whole shirt except where tha press pressed before. let us know the results. One of the things I hope todo this week end is make a video showing some of this and how to make it better.

You are so sweet....
It's not like we don't know how darned busy you are....
Thank you...
And I'll contact you when I finish figuring out which sizes are best for me...

Gurus?
There is a type of gun out there that reads the temperature of your heat press, and is suppose to be accurate within tenths of a degree. I don't know where you can find one, but I'm sure a healthy search between this forum and The Big G will turn something up.
