Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
It looks like I may be getting on the Ace Transfer bandwagon and have a pending job that requires a gradient between yellow and red.
It also requires a soft breatheable design since they will be used by workers at a sandblasting company who do alot of sweating. I've consdered using my DTG but with 100 shirts, I think I'd be better off if I could use plastisol transfer and like the soft feel of Ace.
I talked to Ace today and they said they can do either a 1 color halftone gradient or a 2 color halftone gradient (where they blend both colors into each other).
I was wondering if any of you Ace Transfer users have have done any transfers using halftone gradients and how they looked?
Pics would be great if anybody has any!

Did you happen to get a price quote on them for the 2 color gradient, because I was about to check into something similar myself, and I'd love to hear what they are charging.

They said that there would be an additional charge of $30 per color gradient per order. So, a 2 color halftone gradient would cost an additional $60 tacked onto the order. So, if you have 100 sheets, it would add another $.60 per sheet...if I'm understanding it correctly.

Have to agree with Ross...if you want breathable transfers...you can't really use plastisol. Sublimation is best will sandblasters want to wear white or pastels??? my guess is not...so maybe your DTG would be best afterall
Perhaps I chose the wrong word using breathable. I understand what you are saying and agree.
What I meant to say is something that is soft and moves with the shirt and is not thick and heavy feeling when worn.

A multicolor plastisol print can have a rather heavy hand, especially on a dark shirt where an underbase is needed, although I can't imagine anyone in outdoor construction wanting dark shirts.
I would probably use ImageClip on cotton shirts for a customer like this. ImageClip has a softer hand than plastisol, is self weeding and durability is very good.
I do alot of work with Ace Transfer Company. They can supply a transfer for under armour too. I have used transfers for Body Shops, Resturants, Dog Kennels , and a county road crew. They all love the shorts and raved about how cool they were compared to their previous products. Good luck. ....... JB

Good point. But, since my options are DTG, Ace, & F&M (and I don't like to fool with DTG for a 100 shirt w/ pretreatment), I have to stick with Ace for now.
But I will check out ImageClip a bit more. I've run across a few posts about it but hadn't paid alot of attention to it just yet.

With all the people using Ace Transfers on this forum nobody has done a halftown gradient design on their transfers???

Well...the feedback I got back from Ace wasn't to promising.
They told me that the best you could hope for with their gradient is 35 dpi on a single color gradient (red into yellow). I'm not really sure what that means since the size of the "dots" would have an impact I would think but it doesn't sound like very good "resolution".
Then again...not really sure about all of that.
I think I'm just going to push this job as a DTG job and run it across my T Jet if the customer is ok with that.
