I know there are folks out there who does this, but I was wondering if there are any out there who do just this full time. I would imagine you would need to stock a huge selection of transfers. Also what type of "store" do you have. I'd be really interested to hear from someone who does this out of a "brick & mortar" store day in and day out.
Re: Does anyone make a living strictly on stock transfers
I'd think it would be difficult out of a store front unless you were in an area with very high pedestrian traffic count. People will probably not go looking for you, but if they are walking by, they may stop in and check you out. I see a lot of people at the shows doing stock transfers and they never seem to be too busy. We sat near one for an hour at Bike Week in MD and he had 3 customers. There were thousands of people walking by. People looked as they walked by, but only 3 bought shirts.
Re: Does anyone make a living strictly on stock transfers
I've tried that and it didn't go very good. I added screen printing and it got alot better. At that time I was in a mall and jobed out the screen printing. If you want to do the tranfers only I would setup in a mall and get a screen printer and embroidery place to work with you. Make sure that they will agree not to conctat your customers. I had one screen printer do that after about a year and it hurt my buisness bad untill I found out what they were doing. Know screen printing is the only thing I job out and it's been great also get a vinyl cutter for placing name on shirts easy and fast money. Good Luck just remember to sell something along with the transfers. Try Nascar stuff we have that also in our store and it brings in people like nuts. Then they see your tranfers and leave with a shirt.

Stock transfers only is going to be a hard sell unless you are in the right place. A mall, shopping center, etc. where you get alot of browsing shoppers will be the key.
I have had good luck selling stock transfers at shows....sometimes. I am starting to get a list of the shows I will attend again where I made money and am dropping the ones where I didn't.
To really succeed in this you will need to offer custom stuff as well as stock transfers IMHO
Good luck!

I agree. I've done the same. Some sale, most don't. Custom is the way to go by far.

I was thinking along the same lines as those of you who responded. There'd have to be some sort of customization products offered and other items to bring in more business. I was just wondering if anyone was doing this full time, but I realize that is probably not the case.
