Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I thought I read somewhere that the Ironall Dark and the Colorstar Ink paper called Translution were thought to be exactly the same paper, marketed under two names. Can anyone verify this. There appears to be a huge price difference for these.
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
Ironall is just the name that Newmilfordphoto.com uses. Todd from Colorstar markets the same paper under their name as does at least 4 other companies. I think the actual developer...or at least the place to get a distributorship is from Hyatt Inovative Solutions... so you answer your question...yep the same if the paper from both is the 'new' opaque for dark. I don't think colorstar was as quick to stock it as newmilfordphoto
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
It's a little confusing. I understand that Todd may say it's the same, but Piedmont Graphics (another vendor) also sells Translution and says this regarding the paper: "This version of the paper is designed for white and light colored garments only," and goes on to say a version for dark is not yet available.
I know Todd also sells ColorCorrect for darks, but this isn't listed as a Translution paper. Is the ColorCorrect the same as Ironall for darks? It doesn't appear that the Translution he sells is really made for darks. At least, it isn't listed as a transfer paper for dark on his site.
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
Larry...hard to say which is which unless the vendor is up front with you. I am not sure what Todd sells or the other vendors. I just know what I do and trust the others do the same.
Badalou has a video with the ironall for dark on youtube and you can see what he is using.
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
The last time I heard from Todd is he is still testing Translution for dark which is the same as Ironall for dark under different brand name. He said his price will be competitive. Hopefully it would be a lot lower barring the result of his test of which I think will be the deciding factor as to whether he will carry translution. That is why you do not see it in his website.

Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
Charles and Luis,
Thanks for the response. I figured the Translution on Todd's site was the paper for lights, because it didn't say for darks. It's good to know he's working on getting the dark. There was just too much price difference between his Translution and NewMilford's ironall dark to think they were one and the same.
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
Hey guys...new milfordphoto here..
as with most papers ironall dark is the same paper as the others mentioned... we had it manufactured for us by our manufacturing partner. Everyone else and all other names bought via our manfacturing partner
it not hyatt or translution they are distributors
Re: Ironall Dark and Translution Transfer Solution
Kathy,
Not sure what you're saying. Ironall dark is the same as Translution (be it regular or dark)? The same as ColorCorrect? Sorry, but I had a difficult time understanding your post.
