Modified ImageClip Procedure Since switching to Luis' silicon pad method, I've been having fairly consistent results, but it wasn't 100%. After talking to Geo. Knight about my press and the 1/16" of concave in the heat platen, I thought that maybe there was a pressure issue. Here's what I came up with....
Pressure is indeed an issue. Light consistent pressure is the key. So how do you get light pressure on a press that does not have a flat heat platen? I went to Michaels craft store and spent $4.95 on an 11x17 polyester foam pad. It measures about 1.5 inches thick. I set the pressure light, place the two papers on the foam pad and press fr 10 seconds. Lift the press and re-press with the silicon pad for 4 seconds. The result is a near perfect press every time. Very consistent polymer adhesion because the foam pad evens the pressure.
It is important to use a foam pad that is heat resistant. Polyester foam is good up to about 400 degrees. We are pressing at half that. |
