Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I was wondering if anyone changes the size of your design based on the size of the shirt? When I first thought of designing a t-shirt I was going to do it through Cafe Press. I think 10 x 10 was the sizing for the front of a S - L shirt, but it was 12 x 12 for the front of larger shirts. I 'm going to have plastisol transfers made for my designs and wanted to get some feedback from some of the more seasoned designers. Do you slightly adjust the size of your design for each shirt size, do you have 2 design sizes (one for S - L and one for XL and above) or do you use a one size fits all design. I apologize if this has been addressed before, but there's so much good information on the forum, it's hard to keep up.
I think the transfer can be made 1 size for all applications. I normally order by transfers 11x11 or 12x12. this has work well for me. I suggest you contact a supplierlike Ace Transfer Company for help and more advice. The people at ace are glad to help and answer questions. Your success will help them too.If you rder transfer from them they will benefit too. good luck ...... JB
When it makes financial sense, I use two sizes. It's more work and ends up costing more but the results are far better. Small ladies hate the huge artwork and the big boys look ridiculous with 8-9" prints.
I do a fair amount of mens 5X and ladies small tanks and baby tees and always adjust the size to the shirt... 5X tees with prints for a large tee look silly. I even adjust left chest logos up an inch or so in size for the large guys.
I usually dont go over 9" wide prints on the ladies tanks and tees...
I even move the print down on the back and center chest and a little farther to the left on left chest prints... on the big garments

If what you think looks good is within an inch or two, you're probably ok getting a single size. If you think it looks weird, others will likely feel the same way.
