Default Best Weight T-Shirt For Transfers?

Can anyone offer any suggestions on the best t-shirt weights for transfers.

I am looking for the best weights for both traditional heat transfers and for
plastisol transfers. Or does it matter. Lou, maybe you want to chime in here since you probably have the most experience out of all of us.

For instance, does a 5.5 oz t-shirt receive a transfer better than a 6.1 oz?
My theory is that maybe it would adhere to a lighter weight t-shirt better, but
this is just a guess.

I guess to break it down further would you suggest a different weight for opaque
transfers versus light transfer papers?

Many thanks for your replies!
Eric

I would have guessed (since I'm not particularly experienced with transfers) that the heavier the shirt, the less you'd notice that there's a transfer on it.

thanks for the replies, it does make sense to me know that the heavier the shirt the less you will notice and the more it will feel as a part of the overall shirt.

Even a plastisol transfer manufacturer I contacted suggested the heavier weight for basically the same reason.

Cheers!
