Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Firstly i'd just like to say hello to everyone as i'm new to the forum and this is my first post.......
I'm looking for sheets of 11 x17" transfer paper which will work on dark shirts but doesn't have to be trimmed up and will work on intricate designs? does this exsist at the moment? and if so can you point me in the right direction and if any one has used these any feedback would be fantastic.
Also i'm new to the so can anyone explain the 2 step process when transfering on to dark garments

Duh, I need to keep this reading this thread. I'd like to see the answers!
I'm looking for information on paper transfers and ideally compatable with laser printer but and info including info on injet paper will be much appreciated
there are papers that will print on white without the need of trimming. There is imageclip (a 2 step process), ironall for light (I think), duracotton and I am sure there maybe a couple others

Do they leave a white or glossy film on the borders?

Thanks for the info i will look into it....
Will the 2 step paper transfer well on to a black garment? and do you know of any other 2 step process papers which will look good on black garments
imageclip I think is only for white/light garments. At the present there are not very good options for inkjet transfers to dark..best to use plastisol..Ironall may show promise. So far I have not received my samples to test.. If they work, I might jump onboard but...time will tell
dont forget duracotton is also available in 11x17...and you should not get polymer window. search the forum for post by Ken from Autoart to see how he recommends

Here is a 2 step Airwaves' Opaque and Imageclip. It comes in 11 X 17. You can get sample from AirwavesInc.com. It works with sublimation as well. Any polymer coated transfer paper will work with the opaque material. The material is made of 100% polyester fabric and thicker than most opaque material. It has a matte finish and does not have plastic feel to it. Does not crack when stretched but it does not stretch like Ironall for dark opaque.
Here is a single step http://www.t-shirtforums.com/attachm...k-comparis.jpg. It comes in 11 X 17. It works for either inkjet or laser printer. Sample pack is available at Newmilfordphoto.com. Right now there is a 25% discount until October with coupon code "percent25". Lots of review about it in Iron All For darks... The material is thin, has plastic feel but softer than most opaque transfer and very stretchy.
I don't have long term wash test with either type. So I can't comment on their durability.
Both did not crack when stretched after they have been pressed on the shirt. Both types have to be trimmed and are pricey. So those may not be what you are looking for.

Do you mean that for white shirts there's no trimming? I might go the light route instead of the dark if I can skip some steps...
Yes, no trimming with Imageclip. It is a two step process for light colored shirts.
Search the forums for Imageclip to find pros and cons and also users that are getting good results. Imageclip is self weeding but a bit tricky in getting familiar with using this product. I suggest you read some of the posts ( tips and tricks) about it if you decide to go this route.
