Default Same transfers, different company

I was wondering if anyone else noticed when you get transfers directly from a manufacturer (example: Wildside), it may be acceptable for light or dark shirts. However, if you order the same Wildside transfer through ProWorld, it is now only acceptable for dark shirts?

What would be the reason for this?

most papers are sold under several names...and most have papers that work only with light garments...and other papers are made for darks.. and there are a couple of companies that say their papers can be put on both..I would guess you could put an opaque on light...but why would you?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about plastisol transfers.

I've noticed the same thing, and I've used some of the "darks only" transfers on white shirts and have not had any problems.

I would be very interested to learn why they are labeled "dark only." May have to contact Pro World.

Opaque plastisol transfers will work on both lite and dark gear.

Yes, I was referring to the pre-made stock plastisol transfers that are applied via heat press. You get them from a manufacturer and just put them on your blank shirt. The instructions will indicate if they can be used on light, dark or any color garment.

Actually, I have noticed some of the designs in the catalog are good for both, but through ProWorld are only good on either Light or Dark. I would say more of them have been changed to be "for LIGHTS only" than vice versa.

I actually spent a couple of months putting together a 68 page catalog, then when I went to update some of the product numbers that I was going to be getting through ProWorld, I noticed the discrepancy. I had to go back through about 300 designs and correct the options I was offering.

Some of them were disappointing, like birthday shirts that I think would go over better if they could have been offered on a black garment.

My thought was that ProWorld might have permission to duplicate the original artwork on their own premessis, and have chosen to use different ink or something.

Just figured this little tid-bit of information would have been thrown around here before. But I can ask them myself.

By the way, I have been happy with ProWorld. They are very professional. Just wondered about that little trivia question.

If the design says it can be used on dark, then it will also work on lights. But, the opposite is not true.

I have noticed that some original manufacturers (Wildside I think???) have the same design offered in either light OR dark versions (2 seperate item numbers). The only thing I can think of is that the design for the lighter print may have a softer hand due to the differences in ink?? Just a guess.

I think its important to understand each transfers printing process. I stock about 70 different designs from individual manufacturers some for lites only and others for lites and darks.
