Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I'm on a tight budget and was looking into this press. It looks like it's produced over in China so I'm a little skeptical. Let me know what you think.
I advise to stay away from a non name brand press. It's nice to be able to call someone if you have a problem. The parts used to make the china products are not as heavy duty and will vary in each press. They make their product with surplus parts alot of times. If the cost is a factor, you would be better served buying a used name brand press. please learn from my mistake. Don't buy a press that isn't a name brand. good luck. ...... JB
I agree with Jerry.. Buy from a company here like Coastal Business. I bought my Mighty press from them with a warranty. If I have a problem they are there for me.

I have just set up on a tight budget and went agianst all good advise and had to buy one of those, so far I havent had any problems. I paid £180 for mine and I guess I got what I paid for ...the overall build quality isnt amazing but it works and is solid in the right places.. I work for an enginnering company and can fix anything if the need arises. If I couldnt fix it myself I would save a bit more money and get something with a warranty, for me this machine was a quick fix to get the ball rolling, I will replace it as soon as possible.
James you are one of the lucky ones. I wish you good luck. I bought one to use as a back up and it was junk. I was lucky that paypal stepped in and refunded my money. I can only go on my experience, I wish you all good luck. ....... JB
made in china heat press are crap. the wiring and other components are often poor quality which means they work good for a bit and then they burn out. Hix and Geo Knight are the best presses made in USA. who you gonna call when the china press craps out? so unless you have some skills or friends like jamos you will regret buy china press.
I agree with Coed, I opted for the warranty and got the small Jetpress GeoKnight cheap and reliable... Though I've been tempted to get one of those wooden ones on ebay, but know better...
My only regret is not saving up and buying a better one... "BUY CHEAP, BUY TWICE"
Our company ordered 5 different heat presses from a company in China for evaluation because of the low cost. One of the models look exactly like the one pictured.
When they arrive we couldn't believe how poor the quality was and two of the units were boxed upside down and were damaged during shipment. We would hire H.S. students to build us heat presses before we would order any more machines from China.
We literally threw all 5 units in the trash because we would be ashamed to sell such poor quality machines. Stick to one of the big 3 American manufacturers and you won't go wrong. We learned our lesson about Chinese made heat presses. By the way, the same goes for Chinese vinyl cutters too.
Hope that helps,

I bought a press from this company. It is suiting its purpose, but I have trouble with the pressure knob. I would agree, save up the extra few hundred and buy one made in us. Even though there is a warranty on this press, when you call and ask questions, you cannot understand anything she says, due to her heavy chinese accent. Mine is less than 3 months old, I will sell it to you very cheap if its the route you want to go.
By the way, the same goes for Chinese vinyl cutters too.

I disagree with you on the Chinese vinyl cutters, at least the US Cutter Refine series. They are made in China and they are a very good machine. Sure they probably won't last as long and the "Big Names" but I have made as much $$$$ with my US Cutter as I would of if I bought one of the "Big Names".

I see loads of these Sunie presses on Ebay for $100. Anything has to be better than an iron right? I am not really looking to print dozens of t-shirts, but merely a few black shirts with my favourite bands album covers on the front.
If you just want to do a few shirts for yourself then go for the cheap press. If you plan on using the press for production use and for earning all or part of your income, then get a quality American-made press.
It might be cheaper for you to take your preprinted transfer and blank shirt(s) to a t-shirt shop and have them press it on for you.

I agree if you are only doing a few shirts go with the cheap version. It will suit your purpose. Its a waste of money to buy the name brand if you are not going commercial in my opinion. Like I said, mine works good, except I have trouble getting the right pressure. Ive made about 4,000 in 3 months with it, so I cant complain. When it breaks, i will buy a better brand. Go for it.
