Well, I love my C8800, but it is huge and not at all mobile. I need a smaller laser to take on the road. Is anyone using the C3400 with DuraCotton and/or ImageClip? The price is real attractive. The print technology is LED on the 3400 and laser on the 8800. I don't know if that's an issue or not. I know the 8800 works superbly.
I have the OKI c3400n and use it for both DuraCottonHT and ImageClip and it works fantastically. You should have no problems with it...providing you follow the appropriate settings indicated in other threads on the forum.
Just bought one today and I'm headed to a show on Thursday with it. I printed some 8x11 photos today and laminated them. The print quality on plain paper is amazing. It truly looks like a photograph. I haven't tried DuracottonHT with it yet and may not have a chance until I get to the show. The paper won't be here till tomorrow afternoon. I'm printing some display samples tonight on the C8800 though.
I have an Okidata 3400n, and use VersaTrans Fabric paper from Cactus Equipment, haven't had any problems of the paper coating melting, or jamming like I saw you mentioned with the Duracotton in your other post...
I'm now returning my 2nd Oki 3400n to Staples. After about 1 year, the fuser gets messed up. It gets too hot and the transfer paper sticks to the fuser. Instead of the paper coming out, it wraps around the fuser and you have to manually unwrap it. Then the two warning lights on the OKi blink and the printer is useless. I'm using Durracotton paper with the manual feeder.

Has anyone else had this problem ?
I tried a C3400 a while back with Duracotton. The fuser would get gummed up on a daily basis. I found the trick was to get it cleaned up right away before it cooled down. If you wait and let the polymer harden on the fuser it may not be cleanable. I took that printer back after a week. Not because it stopped working, but because the photo reproduction quality was horrible. The fuser fouling issue was annoying, so I wasn't sad to see it go. There seemed to be a fine line between hot enough and too hot with that printer.
I just realized that this was my thread back when I was considering the C3400. I tried a C5500 as well. Took that back and ended up just using the C8800, which has worked flawlessly.
