Default colors change

HEllo.
We were at the Lighthouse in St.Augustine Fl this weekend.
They had some tshirts that were white and had a black design.
However it said when you went out in the sunlight the colors changed.
The picture showed it being a sunset and the lighthouse was colored.
No more black on white desing.
How is this done ? Got a name ?
Thanks
Mark
