Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Still trying to work out how to do a foil transfer. Apparently I need transfer foil is this the same as screenprinters foil ? Still not sure of the next step can anyone help I want to do a one colour transfer in gold or silver
Imprinables sells foil for cutters. I have done a few shirts with samples from a few companies but I cut the design with my cutter.

No I'm talking about actual tranfers with foil apparently you press the paper on shirt (not sure which paper) then lay and heat press the foil on top, seen an article in image magazine but its not clear what paper is used
I think i know what you mean, i've seen where a 'glue' is printed onto a material and then a sheet of foil is put over and pressed, once the glue had dried the excess foil was pulled off leaving the design. It's no help i know and i have no idea where i saw it or who does it. Sorry.
The new KissCut paper has a foil option, you print as normal with the KissCut paper then overlay with metallic foils. Rather like the old style Omnicrom you could do with laser.
Is this what you mean, not sure (for once if this is available in the US).
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for... but, Dharma Trading has the Jones Tones foils and glue for application to fabric, leather etc. The glue can be drawn on the fabric or stamped on (I don't know if it can be screen-printed on). Once the glue is in place, it dries "tacky," and then you rub the foil onto it, and it is permanently transferred to the areas of glue on the shirt/fabric. Check out Dharma Trading Co. Homepage for more information. I have not used it yet, but am planning to try it with stamped images. Hope this helps,
Thanks all for your imput, I know about the laying over with foil process its a matter of finding the right transfer paper which leaves a tacky print allowing the foil to stick. It seems like plastisol is the best way I'll need to speak to a screen printer. I'm in the UK things seem to be different over here ot it might be that I'm just new to it all. I know one thing and that is we pay a lot more for things, everone on here raves about american apparel so thought I'd like to try but it will cost me wholesale price £8 yes thats ££££ for a simple vest plus £15 for a handling charge.
We need to have distributors for the KissCut in USA. I wonder what it would take to get them to let me distribute it here.
