Help! I did my first job for a customer and I just got a call that when they washed the shirts the design peeled off. I got a one color red custom transfer from Boo-z. I preheated the shirts, heavy pressure, 390 degrees for 12-15 seconds. They peeled like butter, but now I cant figure out what to do. I used 100 % cotton shirts. They want their money back, and its 400.00, plus all my costs and time. Help!
I have no idea why they peeled of, but the cost of doing Business is sometimes you lose money to save your reputation. I would offer to re-make the shirts.I think that is the fair thingto do. If they continue to insist on a refund, then you need to decide if your reputation is worth protecting. I would also offer them a discount on a future order for their trouble. This will give them a reason to give you another try. Good luck. ....... JB
Gee, that sounds like a raw deal if it's true. Have you validated
the tshirts are actually peeling? If you give them their money back
I would get the product back. You can use them as very expensive
rags or even sample giveaways for the tshirts that weren't damaged.

Thanks for adding getting the garments back.I would also try to salvage the shirts for another use. I would also contact the transfer manufacturer and ask them for guidence and for some sort of compensation. It's not only your Rep, but theirs too. ...... JB
i would also try to get what type of detergent the shirts were washed in & were they washed with jeans or any real tough fabrics also did the peeling take place after the wash was done or were they put in a dryer??..then i would try 2 duplicate the same 2 c what happens..

I have a few transfers left, so I am going to conduct a few experiments myself. I am not going to be quick about a refund until I investigate it thouroughly. I told her she needed to tell her customers to wash them inside out, but she said that would make her look cheap. She is giving these shirts away, so its not like they are being sold. I also got a bulk amount of shirts and only charged her 1.00 a shirt to transfer the design. She only paid 5.00 per shirt. She is used to getting screenprinted shirts. I am very frustrated since this was my first job.

i feel for you.
to guarantee that the transfer will not wash off for sure is to get them made with adhesive. A few cents more but well worth it.
With adhesive, they basicaly glue/bond themselfs to the shirts and will not wash off as some do (no refering to yours...in general).
As for the client wanting their money back, it's a good idea to set your terms and conditions of sale with a policy that there are no-refunds but you can replace the goods at no extra cost. That's fair. If they make a big stink about, then refund the money, forget about it and move on. Live and learn as they say.
Good luck in solving this mess. Hope all works out ok for you in the end.
