Pressing Things with Glue on the Back (mainly patches)?
Pressing Things with Glue on the Back (mainly patches)?
I need to press patches, but there is glue on the back. I don't want to glue the patches to anything, just press the image on the front. What do I need so the glue doesn't stick, teflon, parchment paper, something else?
Re: Pressing Things with Glue on the Back (mainly patches)?
I am confused...When I have a patch with glue on the back, I am going to press the patch onto the garment....like an embroidered patch instead of embroidered onto the garment itself. I keep a few on hand for special events. So how are you going to press the image without the glue?? maybe you could enlighten us on just what you are doing...or maybe I am the only one confused

I print patches with adhesive on the back all the time. All you need is a teflon pad for the bottom of your press. After pressing, let it cool...then peel it away from the teflon.

I think the intent is to press an image onto a blank patch that will later be applied to a garment.

It's really easy...as I mentioned in my previous post, use a teflon pad on the bottom of your heat press. Place your patch with the adhesive side against the teflon. Press your image, wait for it to cool, remove it from the teflon pad and it's ready to press onto a garment at a later time, using a heat press or an iron. The adhesive stays on the patch when you use the teflon pad.

Thanks Kathleen. Now I need to get a teflon pad.
Charles (and anyone else confused), I have a white piece of patch material with glue on the back. Like embroidering the patch instead of the garment, I want to print an image on the blank white patch instead of directly on the garment. The problem is, the blank white patch comes with glue on the back. To print some kind of image on a blank white patch, I print out the transfer, but it on the patch, and put the patch in the heat press. This will also heat up the glue on the back side. I want to give out the patches. I need to be able to press the image on the patch, but without heating the patch onto a garment. I need something that would let me heat the patch to put the image on the blank white patch, but wouldn't end up gluing the patch to my heat press. Otherwise, I would be stuck with blank, white, rectangle patches that no one would want.
