Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
My husband just brought home a huge but really cool Hp 8500 color laser printer, his work is upgrading, so he got it for free and it has all the extras ink ect..I was wondering if I can use this with something like that imageclip paper or if it's the wrong kind of printer? Up until this point I have only used the heat press on with a regular injet printer, is there a big difference in quality between injet and laser?
Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
Maybe I shouldn't be so impatient, but I want to buy some paper asap, but want to make sure I can actually use this kinda printer, so anyone, anyone.
Sorry, I'm a pain in the ***!

I was told today that the HP lasers run too hot for printing transfers, especially ImageClip paper, but I don't know that first hand. I'm considering an Okidata.
Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
You need to purchase the right kind of paper...otherwise the adhesive will screw up your new printer. You can use it fine!...just make sure it's the right paper.
Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
I would forget google...call any of the paper sources, tell them what you have and they can tell you which paper is correct for you..imprintable, coastal business, paper ranch..any of them should have the right stuff.
Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
Yea...definantly forget google. It's not good for anything, especially information that can help. You probably can't even get contact info for any paper manufactuers or companies either.
I'm sure you'll google it, because I know your smart and you know you can get most of what you need off the internet...even if it is contact info for someone who can guide you in the right direction.

Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
some posts do have problems...reason I stated not to google..is partly because you cannot always be sure of info..and why not support the vendors who support this forum..give them first choice..can't hurt can it? Incidently the google search had half first page with UK sources..if that is where the poster is from...then I would stand corrected...BUT.......I still think those in for forum without an axe to grind can give correct information when asked a specific question. I think think the 8500 maybe the European verison of the C8800. If so then I KNOW the vendors I mention DO have the correct paper. use the forum search for Okidata printers and transfer papers
Re: Can I use a HP 8500 color laser printer on transfers?
Thanks so much for the advice, I guess I just need more digging to figure it all out, I think my best shot will be to talk to some of the vendors personally as this is how I have learned the most in the past, Thanks All!
