Smile so honestly how much are people making a month off tees

so honestly i am curious how much can i make a month in the 2 shirt business locally. I want to do custom tees, tees for local businesses, and sports teams

i have 2 heat presses, 1 scanner, and a us vinyl cutter,

also as soon as i get to know my vinyl cutter better, i wanna get into the local signs business with cars, and windows.

what do you think i could make being in the city of seattle. which means they are plenty customers, and plenty of competition

please get back!!

LOL....u katz are nutz! Well, I think the sky is the limit as far as how much you can make from your business. Seattle huh?? Large enough town so let's break this down. U can make a million by the end of this year if you sell 50,000 tee shirts at $20 a pop! Hit a Seahawk game & sell shirts until security runs you off! Or if 50,000 people are too many people to pitch to within the remainder of this year then up the price of those puppies to $40 a shirt & hit just 25,000 thus cutting the amount of people you have to see in half! Just kidding, but I think that the bottom line is that you will only make as much money as you can actually see yourself making. No more & no less. Good luck with the biz in Seattle bro!

It depends on so many things.. If you are doing sports teams make sure you have the licences to do so, or you will be bitting off more than you can chew in the legal battleground.. ...

HOw much you can make depends on your design skills, and you skills in puttin that on the substrate.. (either shirt or sign) and also you salemanship.. Do you have a plan on how you are gonna market these product locally.. As for the signs, If you wanna make professional looking signs, design wise.. I would recomend getting a book by Mike Stevens called "Mastering Layout" also check out price guides and such to make sure you are charging enough... Alot of newbies in the sign business lowball and dont charge enuff for there products, which not only hurts them but the industry as a whole.

I've just gotten started in the tee biz myself. Had my heat press for about 6 months, getting to "know" it.

I landed my first order by accident. I'll be doing Tees for the family members of the kids on our Pop Warner football team. The orders haven't all come in yet, but my best estimate is about 100 - 125 tees in all, with an average per-shirt profit of about $5.00 (I kept the pricing low intentionally because these families already shelled out about $300 in fees and equipment for the kids to play)

I'm hoping to build on this and make a few contacts to branch out into more reliable and consistent orders though. LOTS of small biz owners have kids on the team.

If you hope to make a lot of money using the cut, weed and heat press method you're going to spend most of your time weeding. Which, when you have a bunch of shirts with small lettering, is a major pain in the @($^#. There is no way you can charge enough to offset your labor costs plus your other overhead and maybe even a profit.
Example: This week we did 15 double sided shirts using the cut & weed method with some very small lettering. In about the same amount of time we did 185 single sided shirts on our Brother GT-541.
If your looking to make the big bucks you should think about DTG or screen printing. Maybe even subcontracting out some of the work.
We are on track to make a bizillon dollars this month or at least enough to make the payment on our Brother!!

I'm hoping to do the vinyl as a mono-color logo kinda deal for landscape companies and such. Weeding shouldn't be too much of a problem, as I have a 13 year old kid that wants in on the shirt biz with me. And I can't think of anything better to break him in with than WEEDING a design or 100.

This is a part time/side biz kind of thing for me right now, so I'm not TOO concerned about labor costs at the moment. I just want to pay for my equipment and supplies, and make enough to purchase bigger and better stuff for down the road when I finally make the transition into full time with this business.

I'm trying to build from nothing to something to SOMETHING, if you get my drift.

I do alot of parent shirts for sports teams.there is good money to be made doing that. I give a shirt to 1 parent and then have them take orders.I give away a few shirts, but get lots of orders.i have about 12 teams, i do this for. I also do some school stuff too. I give a few shirts(kinda like bait when fishing) I then hook the big one.I got a large account from a national company through my grass roots marketing with team sports. Good luck.....JB

Thanks JB. I'm just starting out and hoping to get more orders as time wears on. I'm waiting to fulfill this order before I really start a marketing push.
