Default help with PDF file and Corel Draw

My customer sent me a PDF file. I saved it and when I hover my curser over file it shows an EPS file. When I try to open it in Corel X3 I get a red X and an error saying file is corrupt. If I just click on the file it opens in Acrobat Reader and looks fine. The problem is that I am trying to make a vector file to send to FMExpressions and I want to gang three copies of this logo onto one page. Can anyone help me please?
Thanks Cindy

I had a similar problem last week with a banner design I was doing. I had transparencies over transparencies which ending up corrupting my file when I went to print in Roland but opened in Corel.

How complex is the design, does it have any special effects?

It is a pretty simple design but it does have several colors, 10 I believe.
It is a road runner and a sunshine and some lettering

I tried opening a PDF file using different file format in Corel X3 such as EPS,PRN, Postscript, AI and yes PDF without problem. There must be something in the file that Corel does not like.

An option you can use is capture the image with Corel Capture program:

1) Open the Corel Capture program, click capture and continue
2) Open Corel with new file
3) Double click the pdf file so that it will open with adobe reader
4) Make sure to zoom the page so that the image fits the monitor
5) Press F7 key to capture the image on the monitor and a copy will be save in the clipboard
6) Press Alt Tab and select Corel program
7) Click on the blank page to activate it
8) Press Ctrl V or Shift insert to paste the image from the clipboard to the active page.
9) Vectorize the image by using Corel trace

Cindy
did you get it?

Did you try Importing, Direct opening and Importing using the pdf filter?

If still no go Ill open the file in Acrobat and save in a cdr file for you if needed

Ok, I have tried everything so I just forwarded the e-mail from my customer to the screen printer. He mailed me back and said the text needs to be in curves. Since I can't get it open I can't convert it!! I feel like a bad customer. I am greatful that the printer is very nice. I'm ready to accept help if the offer is still open to forward off line. thanks, Cindy

Did you simply try changing the extension on the file to cdr. Sometime when I download files from an email, it will transfer as a PDF, and when I change the file extension, the program recognizes the file. Give that a try!
