Default Total Newbie need directions

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum but I have been reading it for quite a while now and there are some basic things I don't understand, and someone telling me "You need exactly ___(fill in the blank)___ in your situation" would help me look in the right direction. (I've read about plastisol, sub Ink, paper transfer but I was always left with questions to ask... that's why I subscribed to this forum)

1st : I want to print designs on t-shirts at low price so if possible (and only if possible) I will try something else than Sub ink bcause of the polyester limitations.
2nd : I DON'T want the carrier of the design(sides of the design to the border of the sheet) to be printed as well on the shirt, and with the kind of design I am planning to transfer I can't begin cutting around.
3rd : I already tried a cheap transfer paper-ironing... but the result was almost solid plastic on the t-shirt and it was sort of disgusting, you felt it a lot while wearing the shirt. That's where I dropped my hopes of printing on shirts. Heat presses are worth hundreds and I didn't have the money(still, if I can use the iron I will if you have some suggestions of a magic paper that suits these conditions) but now I do have a little bit of money to buy a used press.

And finally... I live in Canada... so I think I won't be ordering a lot from outside the country.

Once I bought a shirt that the guy pressed locally(he only had the sheet with the design and blank t-shirts) and I was impressed at the result. I think it was sub ink but I don't have a clue. The design contains splashed ink spot and the design on the shirt doesn't feel like the plastic feel I've talked about earlier.

Thank you very much for your help and I am sorry, my english is not that good because I'm a french canadian.

sounds like you want either dye sub or DTG. both will meet your requirements or you can try a couple of papers that do not leave much, if any, hand. One requires color laser and the other special ink, paper. there is also a couple others that have posted on the forum.
