Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I'm sure you're all tired of the "is this press from ebay any good?" questions.. but uhm.. Is this press from ebay any good?
I don't intend of running a typical transfer business, more of a small fashion tshirt shop online so I don't plan on printing 100s of shirts a time. If that actually makes any difference.
So if anyone has any experience with these presses I'm curious to know if it'll do the job.
I just bought one of these yesterday. I'm looking forward to getting it next week. I hope that it does what it's supposed to do. It looks like it's built pretty good and it has a good warranty on it....so I don't know.....I needed a heat press to apply names and numbers to shirts and I though that this might do the trick for the price.....I guess I'll find out!
Hi re heat press I say but the biggest and best you can afford and stick with brand names.I bought one on ebay called something like"low cost press"t broke in two months service yes (in Hong Kong) Now I have a Geo Knight works like a d... stick to the good ones

Whether you are doing one at a time or 100's, you should still start with the best equipment possible
The press you linked to is about the same as the other threads you've read where people say "stay away".
If you need an inexpensive press, you'd be better of buying a used press from a reputable name brand.
You will be taking a risk getting a cheap press, and big or small, if you're trying to put out a quality product, you need quality equipment that you can rely on.
my first press was just a little more than this one, but named brand. I got the hobbylite and free shipping through Bestblanks. Well now I hate best blanks, but that press kicked arse. I did over 6,000 shirts with it in 2 years and then resurfaced it because i noticed my temp was harder to reach due to all the residue and it is still kickin! Cant beat name brand, or you can buy those things every 6 months when they give out.. Up to you.

Funny, I just received a teflon pad from them and I'm getting the same feeling!!
IMHO, any printing equipment you find on eBay is of low quality.
You may get your money's worth (if you're lucky)...but you certainly won't get more than that!
You get what you pay for in the printing industry.
Yeah, I guess I should have went with a $1,000 one from Stahls or something. Oh well, I'll give this one a try....never hurts....I did get a China made vinyl plotter off eBay 2 years ago and it worked like a charm...never really had any problems with it...so I thought I would try my luck with this heat press.....
one pleasant thing I learned at Long Beach...I was thinking of replacing my Hix 400 but Nick from Paper Ranch reminded me that Hix heating element has lifetime warranty..you can get heat strips to test the temp of your press and in the case of Hix and probably others, you can get new elements. Not sure you can do that with off shore items
I just purchased that exact same heat press from the seller ( asc365.com ) last week. I actually set it up today and ran it for a few hours doing some transfer which turned out great~! (after messing them up the first 3 times, so the 4th was the charm, lol.)
It's real sturdy, mostly made from cast aluminum, didn't take too, too long to heat up.
