Default Transfer Paper Type for off white/beige t-shirts?

I am putting a image on a off white/beige shirt! Do I use a dark transfer or light tranfer paper?

You can use light transfers. I do natural color shirts all the time. I think you would like them over dark transfers.

Thank you for your quick response, as you can tell I am new here! Best place to to 100 transfer sheets and if the jpeg has a white border and I do not want that printed, will the tranfer be clear?

Thank you again
Sam

Sam if you have an xacto knife -- trim out your design so the finish product won't have that transfer/boxy look

Only what you leave. I trim 1/8 from design so it is hard to see.

If you use non-opaque transfers, no white will show because the shirt is already beige (non-white). The beige color of the shirt will show on all the white portions in your design.

Question Re: Transfer Paper Type for off white/beige t-shirts?

greetings to all,

can an exacto knife be purchased @ a local craft store or wal-mart?
does it go by another under?

on average, how many transfers are recommended with this process instead of buying plastisol transfers?

oh yeah, good thread sam, i was just about to search the forum for non-white shirts because i am not too fond of white.

if your going to walmart - they would be in the craft/fabric section of the store
they might call them a craft knife

greetings,

thanks for the info. can i get a description of the knife. is it like a pizza cutter?

off the topic, but would a lavendar shirt fall under the light colored category that you can use non-opaque transfers? is there a chart that provides this information, ie. which shirt colors would fall under the category as a light colored?

Lavender should be fine to use as light colored. Generally, if you're OK with the white portions in your design showing as lavender, then it's acceptable.

great, i will give this a try. i found some stock tranfers from proworld that have some lavendar flowers amongst other colors. i think it will look good on lavendar. is $12 a reasonable price for shirts where i press with stock transfers? i am thinking for $12 or 2 for $20.

The large craft knife I purchased at Michael's, it was about $4.00 . . the kit I purchased at a flea market, it was $2.95
the knife in the kit, is a better knife . . go figure ;o)

Lavendar flowers? How easy is it to press something on a short sleeve? How would you even doing it? With a regular iron?
