Default producing shirts for resale

Hey guys,

A big obstacle I'm having to overcome is that when someone wants 50 or so shirts to resell, they're not comfortable with the end cost even when I charge the bare minimum amount. I always have to educate them about the differences between heat transfer and silk screening and why spot color screen printing is cheaper.

I've implemented a quantity discount, I've explained the full color and detail quality, but some small business owners just want something simple. Have any of you guys ever chiseled way down on cost for big orders meant for resale, and still come out on top? I already get yelled at by some of my buddies for charging bare minimum, and still customers seem surprised when they hear the total cost.

Don't go too low with your pricing. You still have to make money and stay in business.

If the customers don't want to pay it, then they won't. You want to attract the kind of customers that are willing to pay for the type of work that you do.

You should also consider outsourcing so you keep those customers that come to you for larger jobs where you might be priced out of their range.

You have a heat press, if you order some plastisol transfers of the customers design, you can compete better with the screen printers pricing.

The plastisol transfers should work really nice for your 1-2 color large orders.

Good luck
