Cold peels: problem or unrealistic expectations? Hi all,
I received my first order of cold peel transfers from First Edition, and I'm not sure if I'm having problems with them or not. I have had great success with their hot-splits and after searching the forum I realize that I had incorrect expectations that they would look and feel like the hot-splits.
After a lot of experimenting, I think I have the time and temp right (360 for 15 seconds), because the transfer doesn't peel off. However, if I try a stretch test in the middle of a solid section, the plastisol separates with the fibers. It takes some scratching to get more to come off (i.e., it doesn't start a big section peeling), but it's still more than I'd like. These shirts are for kids and I know they can dish out a lot of abuse.
Is it unreasonable for me to expect a cold-peel not to crack? I have to pull fairly hard, but the same test on the hot-splits don't crack. I am starting to have nightmares about returns.
Also ... the instructions don't say to pre-press, but should I? It's a pretty humid area.
Thanks for any help. |
