Default heat press amount of time?

hiya.just got a c88 sublimation machine it's pretty cool. i'm printing on lightish colored [my name is dyer after all]50/50 poly cotton fabric. how long do i hold it down for? should i play with the images and make em more saturated in photoshop? i know there's experience out there... white 100% poly is not an option.it's cool if they are "vintagy" looking i actually prefer it i just wanna know some tricks. thank you.jeff

Hi Dyer,

I'm afraid on 50/50 the look will be not "vintagy", but washed out - so don't expect great results. There are a few threads on this subject already that you might want to read. Search forum discussions for sublimation on 50/50 t-shirts.

What ink, paper and blanks are you using? Do they come with any pressing recommendations?

Temperature for dye-sublimation is supposed to be 400 F, but pressure and pressing time is something you will probably have to figure out by trial and error.
If you have a shirt to spare - cut it up and experiment.

For polyester shirts pressing time may vary from 35 sec to 60 sec – not sure about blends, I avoid them J

If you "over-cook" your shirts cotton thread might yellow. Same might happen if you use some kind of spray for cotton-rich fabrics.

Good luck!
