Default ash color Tee

I'm just starting out and doing heat transfers printed from my inkjet Canon C88. They ONLY seem to come out decent on ASH colored shirts. It is a heathered grey. Other solid colors show the tranfer paper residue too much. Thinking about investing in Plastisol on hot-split but for now does anyone know of other colors that have an acceptable result?

Do your clients like ASH? (I don't...but does it sell?)

Do you trim your transfers to 1/8" of your image? Even then your going to have some polymer [ transfer residue ] Plastisol has no residue. The only thing that transfers, is the ink. You should be able to do most colors depending on your image. MIKE

Mike, Thing is I do trim it but I usually have a clipart graphic then under it a saying or word, So between them is a good amount of space. It's not just a square. I think the only thing to do is make to whole thing in a rectangle with a background and then trim.

What do you think about that ASH color...saleable?

Even though it's not a square, a good amount of trimming can still be done.

What brand of transfer paper are you using?

Sure, some customers like ash and some don't.

The customer will tell you what they want. I wouldn't try to sell the customer on ash because it's the only thing you can print correctly.

I would find out what the customer needs and figure out how to provide that service. Each customer will be different.

One customer needs 1 white t-shirt with their grandkids. Heat press it with an inkjet transfer (or outsource to a DTG printer)

One customer needs 25 black t-shirts with their one color white company logo on it. Buy some plastisol transfers and use your heat press to apply them to the shirts.

One customer wants 10 ash colored shirts for a martial arts class. Decide whether you want to use your inkjet transfers or get some plastisol transfers made.

Customer comes to you and needs 500 navy t-shirts with a website logo on it. Get contract pricing from a local screen printer (or one online) and figure out your profit margin.

Figure out all the options that are available to you and have the pricing sheets ready. Then, when a customer needs a job done, you can handle just about anything.

Thanks Rodney.

The paper I've been using is from Bestblanks. I have ordered samples from a few other companies to see if this is the problem.

I'm thinking of PhotoEZ as another option but seems too time consuming. I think can oly print 1 shirt and then all the clean up and starting over to get the next shirt. Or even vinyl...I read other threads for info but am still sceptical of PhotoEZ.

Also regarding the ASH color tee. I was going to sell online and thought of only providing that one color. Not sure how that would go over.

I use a JerZee 363M Birch -- IMO - it's a tad lighter than the ash

now that I started using Plastisol transfers for the RV company that I do
golf and V-neck shirt for --- boy does it make a huge difference in the
quality of the finished product --
Plastisol opened another door for more colors Tee and golf shirts
for the RV company . . .

when using inkjet transfers - on white, or light color shirts -- I spend the
time and trim the transfers . . some peeps really don't know it was a
transfer
