Default Color Fade After Press

I took everyones advise (Thank you by the way!) and went out to purchase a heat press..

I could not Beleive the difference and how amazing a heat press really is! I used Everlast light color transfer paper with 100% cotton shirt..

I now have:
C88+ printer
Everlast light fabric heat transfer paper
15 x 15 heat press
gilden and haynes tshirts

I tested and pressed 2 different shirts using the same image, temp (375) and time (15 sec) . I only changed epson settings - one was set to text and graphics and the other to photo.

I then compared it to a shirt that I used an iron to print the design and I found something strange:

- One of the two heat pressed shirts (photo option one) had different shades in color (slightly)

- The other shirt though (text and graphics option one) although the colors were accurate, had a slightly greater faded look (you really need to look at both side by side to notice)

-What surprised me the most was that BOTH heat pressed shirt colors were not as vivid as the iron pressed one!

Could someone please explain why that is and how to fix these small issues?

It turns out that:
1- I just needed more time to learn my heat press. I upped the temp a little more and applied more pressure.

2- The epson printer just wasn't cutting it so I purchased an OKI 3400 laser printer and use Dura Cotton HT paper with it.

if found this solution perfect for making pro grade shirts everytime. Not more hassle/experimenting and wasting shirts, ink and time.

I have been pressing shirts ever since that post with the equipment listed above and after Countless washes t-shirts still look like new - vivid colors.

I know laser printer costs more than inkjet (oki 3400 currently costs $234 on special instead of $400 at tigerdirect.ca) but I found you can't even compare the quality of both. Another HUGE bonus is that with Duracotton HT, there is no need to cut unprinted portions of the paper, just print the sheet and press. There is no box effect at all.

Hope this helps!
