Default Customer request/ guidelines for t-shirt: do you do a sample on plastisol transfer orders?

I have a customer who wants to place an order (600) shirts. My problem is that before they sign off on the order for me to fulfill she wants to see the design on the t-shirt. The problem that I am having with that is I am planning on using Transfer Express to print the transfer for me, but they do not sale 5 or less transfers. They have a minimum of 10 but to order 10 of them using my design is going to cost 29.54 per transfer for only 10. I really do not know what is standard I am new at the large quantity orders because I have always just done t-shirts for individual with photo etc. I would really appreciate some advice. Do you normally show the customer the design on the shirt if they request it. What is standard? Does anyone have any suggestions on if I should use some else to print the transfers? I understand my customer wanting to see the design before it is printed to make sure she likes it. My other problem with that is TE will fax proof but charges $40/per color. My design has 5 colors and that is uneconomical for me to do that. Also, for me I want to see the design after they recreate it to make sure I like it also and that it is what my customer wants. I really need the business so can someone advise me on what to do, please.

Thank you in advance and Happy 4th of July!!
Thanks,
Chris

Hello aca, How much for a min. of you transfers? What I was thinking is why dont you tell your person that you can make 1 sample for x dollars (order your min. trans.from company) tell your client if they dont go ahead with the order that 1 sample will cost x $ .If they like the product and go ahead with order that sample will become part of the order therefore no sample price.

I would explain to the customer that you can produce a printed sample for X amount of dollars or you can show them a graphic proof that will simulate what the design will like on the t-shirt at no cost.

Screen printers don't offer samples for free, and only a few screen printers will offer a printed sample for a high fee (because of the costs involved).

If the order is "definite" and they are putting down a deposit, you could use that money to purchase some transfers and make them a t-shirt, but I would just take this time to educate the customer on what standard practices are and what you can and can't do for free.

Don't be afraid to let them know what to expect and what you can and can't do. You don't want to print up a t-shirt at a cost of $50 to you and have them say "nah, we'll go somewhere else".
