Angry epson 1280 printer ( help )

Need some help... I am new. I have a Epson 1280 printer with the Best Blanks bulk feed ink system. Armur Inks. I have 2 problems.
1) getting horizontal lines printing on my image.
I did the nozzle/check --- and cleaning 4 times and still have the lines coming across my image. all other colors are printing well except it seems as though it is the black ink that is causing the problem.

2) bleeding in the wash. I use 50/50 blend t's I was inside out in cold water and when I pull it out of the washer they have bled all over the shirts. I was told the adjust the dpi resolution to 200. I was wondering how to do that and what everyone else uses (dPi)

Please help me I want to produce great quality shirts but am very frustrated at this point and starting to wonder if I should just be buy stock transfers instead of trying to print my own.....

I have a 1280 also and don't have a problem. I got my bulk ink system on ebay and it isn't a brand or anything, same for my pigment inks. I get the banding sometimes but a head cleaning fixes it for me.

I do always print at 200 dpi and never have a problem in the wash.
What dpi are you using?

Thanks for your reply..... I have done several cleanings. I was having trouble with my black when I did my nozzle check..... Thought maybe I was having problems with my bulk ink system so I unhooked it and put in my regular epson ink cartridges and did a few prints and then a cleaning and nozzle check......CAME OUT PERFECT....... So I hooked my bulk ink back up and cleaned it again printed a nozzle check and the BLACK came out GREAT..... BUT NOW I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY red and pinks.......... I have done many and many cleanings and can NOt get it to come out by doing my head cleaning............................ I dont know what to do from here....... I am new to all of this and am getting very frustrated...... What do you think.....

Default Consider the reverse drive technique.

It sounds like your 1280 is rejecting your bulk inks. The nozzles on the 1280 are designed for dyes, so if your bulk inks are pigment based, this could cause clogging, which in turn will create the horz. lines you are experiencing. I've had luck using rubbing alcohol and kim-wipes (a lint free paper swab) to super-clean the head and nozzles. It's very tricky, but worth the effort. Be very careful, the parts are fragile. The manufacturer does not recommend your doing this. I've had to nozzle check and clean as many as 30 times to get a head clean! I let the printer sit too long between use.

If all else fails there is the reverse drive method:

Put the printer in your driveway and back over it with your car. A truck works best for this. It's a last ditch solution, but one I have found to be most satisfactory with stubborn technology.

ps. A new and different printer would be needed after this one-shot solution.

Default Dots Per Inch

The DPI is set within you image design; depending on what software package you are working with. The document size is determined at the onset of design, unless you are using vector based graphics. For example, if your design is 5x7 inches in real world tems, the the document size needs to be 200 to 300 dpi in order to achieve the quality of output you desire. Designing your graphics with a larger base size is always best because scaling down is much easier then up-sizing. A lot of my graphics are NOT vector art and have to be sized to full four color process. This translates into some very beefy file sizes. A 24 x 36 inch poster is a 222 megabyte file, flattened.

If you start your designs at 8x10 x 300 dpi, you can always resize and save smaller versions. If your doing vector art, none of this should be a concern.

Default Re: Consider the reverse drive technique.

Thanks for your reply............ Yep I can see that it can get frustrating enough to use the REVERSE DRIVE METHOD!!!!! All of this seems to be tricky.... Strangely my printer is now working correctly with all the messing around I did with it.... It decided to do its job... For now anyway..... Until the next time.... I did try cleaning it with alcohol swabs, but wasnt sure exactly where I was to swab it.... I must have done something right or just luck of the draw and it decided to work...

Thanks agin....
