Default getting start in heat transfer tshirt

Hi all,

my friend brother happen to bought a large format Roland printer (SP300V) with plotting function to support his business. We was thinking of producing some tees to sell and had hence got a heat press also.

After some trial and error with the sample paper the supplier gave to us, we are not too happy with the end result.

We try a few heat transfer material in this process
- printed the design on the heat transfer paper
- peel off the design and transfer it to the transparent tranfer material
- pre-press the tees
- place the transfer material over the tees, and the talfon over it to press for 6-18 seconds.

we are unhappy of the result becasuse
- the colour look very fade on a black tees
- the material seem very thick, like a layer of plastic over the tshirt which isn't ideal

so my question:
is this a production mistake error or a material fault? if it is a production error, where had we gone wrong? if it is a material fault, is there any material that you can suggest to us for trying?

thanks!

p/s: my 1st post in the forum, be kind okie?

I also Have the versacamm. What type of material was it? I am guessing it was the Roland HTM material which I tried and was not to happy with. The other product that I liked is the Specialty Materials Color Print II. Just print it with a high gloss profile like you would use for your vinyl. This material was a lot softer to the ouch and holds up very well. also sometimes with the roland HTM material the more heat and dwell you apply the harder the material gets.

Opaque material has these problems. To print onto darks, you need a white undercoating, which is usually the thick plasticy vinyl. Also the color doesn't seem to bond as well and there is some fading.

prometheus > actually we are no using opaque material, and is using the white undercoating as mention by you. it just appear very fade on my black tees test print, what can be other problem?

Ok the material I used is from beacon graphics and here is the link
Apparel Transfer Inkjet Media for inkjet printers from Beacon Graphic Systems

Now here is another product which is suppose to be the same just sold under a different name link
Vinyl Cutters, heat presses, heat transfer material, transfer papers and heat printing supplies all at affordable prices.

Now all you need to use is any glossy vinyl profile and the colors are super bright looks like printing on a High gloss vinyl. Now since it is Heat transfer Material it does have a plastic feel to it but it is not like the cheap stuff you are using or the Roland HTM material
