Re: Heat Press Accessories Heat Press Accessories
01. Tee Square It - used for proper alignment of the garment
02. Thermal Tape/Dispenser - tape transfers onto garment
03. Teflon Sheets - in between shirts for printing on both sides as well as on top of garment when pressing
04. Heat Eraser - ?
05. Teflon pillow - sit within garment to help provide flat surface area. Some folks use mousepad or cardboard in place of.
06. Other size platens - used for variety of different purposes
07. laser thermometer - measuring temperature
08. stand - place on and/or make portability easier
09. vinyl cutters - for working with vinyl
10. ink jet printer - print onto transfer papers
11. transfer paper - for printing artwork to be transferred to garments Questions
01. Is there anything significant I am missing that should be added to this list.
02. In relation to thermal tape, is it really used? Every video I see online never shows anyone taping anything down?
*** I am just starting out so this is only from my short and imperfect experience. :-)
*** I had ordered a roll and hadn't used it till today to hold down some vinyl. So yea its good to have around. Not that expensive. I didn't get the tape dispencer and will order one next time I order. Had to have g/f cut it while I held the vinyl down.
04. Can someone please explain what a heat eraser is and how it is used?
*** It looks like the eraser that you used back in school. It suppose to help remove the heat faster from the transfer. I have used it but not sure if its really doing anything but for like 2 bucks guess got its usefullness.
05. Can either a teflon pillow or paper be used to protect the bottom of a heat press? Is there a need? I don't always notice this in demos.
*** I got the teflon cover for the bottom platen. If you do both sides of a shirt it comes in handy other wise you need another teflon sheet. Before I got it I did a shirt and forgot the other side was pressed and it messed up the shirt and left an imprint on the platen. Plus the shirt kinda stuck to the platen.
I have the pillow. I put it inside the shirt when I have a graphic on the other side. Helps out. Do'nt forget to change your pressure knob cuz its harder to press when the pillow is used.
06. Is a laser thermometer only useful for older heat presses that don't display the temperature on the device? Is there any applicability for them?
*** I got a cen tec from radio shack. But it wouldn't work due to the platens reflective surface. others say the have them and they work. So while mine didn't work I definately see were they come in handy for determining your platen temp.
That way if you have issues pressing you can elimante the temp as the cause.
07. Is teflon paper easy to clean? How about a teflon pillow? If so, what is involved?
*** I have yet to clean mine. Nothing has stuck to it and I have stupidly pressed a couple transfers upside down.
Hopefully this as been helpful in some way.
Mark
