Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
1 - Are cutters and plotters basically the same thing?
2 - Are they used only for vinyl transfer paper or do they have them available for regular transfer paper?
3 - Is there any advantage to using vinyl transfer paper over regular transfer paper (other than the look and feel)?
4 - True or False: Clear transfer paper is used for white or very light t-shirts whereas opaque transfer paper is used for darker colors such as red, black, and blue.
5 - Heat presses - I'm leaning towards a swing arm model. Any negatives to that style or is it all just personal preference?
6 - I hear the company - Imprintables - mentioned here quite a bit. I've been to Alpha Supply Company's website. Lots of good information for someone new. Any customer experiences with either of these suppliers?
Thanks so much for all the help. This is really such a friendly bunch of users here.

It's the same equipment for both. If you're cutting regular (single ply) transfer paper you'll need a carrier sheet though.

More or less true, although occasionally people use opaque transfers on lights because they like the rubbery feel.

It takes up more space.

Do a forum search. Lots and lots of people have had good experiences with Imprintables. While I don't recall anything specific being said about Alpha Supply, I know they've been mentioned.
