My wife and I recently bought a brand new Hotronix® Auto Clam Perfect Pressure heat press. We are brand new to all this and have a stupid question. Do we need a teflon sheet or cover to use with this when we press our shirts. Just wondering..

Teflon protects in numerous ways, but the two most important are...

1. it protects the garment from direct contact (heat) from the press.

2. it protects the press from heated ink that (for whatever reason) can find it's way to the press.

Yes, get one. I always covered most garments with sheets of parchment but when those wore out I didn't use anything for a while. After awhile, residue started building up that you couldn't really see, but it was turning the items a little yellow brown. It washes out, but it doesn't look good. I had to clean and clean the top platen and I still don't have it all. I spent the money on a large teflon sheet I should have been using since day one.

You don't have to use it, but using it will bring you many advantages, as quoted. The only disadvantage must be putting it and removing it ;-)

Yes, but then you shouldn't have to clean the platen later.
